UKATA Asbestos Awareness

Our Asbestos Awareness course is designed to give personnel a detailed knowledge of asbestos and to be mindful of its presence. Please note, this course is not designed to train personnel to work with asbestos, simply to be aware of it.

Description

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

Our Asbestos Awareness course is suitable for a wide range of participants:

Supervisors and trade personnel, including trainees such as: demolition workers; construction workers; general maintenance staff; electricians; plumbers; gas fitters; painters and decorators; joiners; plasterers; roofers; heating and ventilation engineers; telecommunication engineers; fire and burglar alarm installers; computer installers; architects; building surveyors; shopfitters; and other such professionals.

Architects, building surveyors and other such professionals may require a more developed course. This would include the core syllabus in this course with an additional module which includes the interaction between the various duties under the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 and those within Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. For more details, please contact the office regarding a bespoke course.

WHY ATTEND?

Asbestos Awareness training must be given to employees whose work could foreseeably expose them to asbestos. In particular, it should be given to all demolition workers and those workers in the refurbishment, maintenance and allied trades where it is foreseeable that their work will disturb the fabric of the building because asbestos containing materials (ACMs) may become exposed during their work. Exemption from this requirement would apply only where the employer can demonstrate that work will only be carried out in or on buildings free of ACMs.

Asbestos Awareness training is not training to work with any forms of asbestos. It is likely to form the first part of training for work with asbestos, but on its own it does not meet the legal requirements laid down under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.

HOW LONG IS THE COURSE?

The course takes 3-4 hours with a mandatory test at the end of the course.

WHERE DOES THE COURSE TAKE PLACE?

The course can be delivered at our training centre in Chorley or at the client’s premises if suitable training facilities are available.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

Just bring yourself and a whole bunch of enthusiasm. We supply the rest.
